Circulating on the Web as we scribble:

Must be the abstinence-only training.

Follows.

One surprise after another!

News alert! (Cue heartpounding music…)

In the land of the linguistically challenged headline writer, the one-armed man shall lead.

Welcome to The Copyeditors' Desk

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

This is our first post to The Copyeditors’ Desk, a brand-new blog named after our brand-new business.

The Copyeditors are Tina Minchella and Victoria Hay, experienced editors who specialize in scholarly editing and in helping scholars whose first language is other than English reach print through English-language publishers. We also have experience with trade book publishing, custom publishing, and commercial magazine publishing, and we’re happy to assist authors and publishers with copy editing, content editing, proofreading, and indexing.

Tina recently finished a master of arts in European history at Arizona State University, where she also has completed a graduate-level certificate in scholarly publishing. She is presently serving as editorial assistant for Mathematical Biosciences and Engineering, Letras Femeninas, and Science and Public Policy.

Victoria has a doctorate in English literature with an emphasis on historical biography. She directs an editorial office that provides preproduction services for scholarly journals, among them Mathematical Biosciences and Engineering, Letras Femeninas, Science and Public Policy, Frontiers, Studies in Medieval and Renaissance History, Western Journal of Communication, and Documentary Editing. Author of several volumes that range from textbooks to best-selling trade books, Vicky Hay has also served on the editorial staffs of Phoenix Magazine and Arizona Highways.

In this blog, we plan to talk about issues that interest all writers and editors: style, grammar, formatting, and the ins and outs of the publishing industry.  Facts, advice, opinion, and gossip: these will be our bailiwick.

Who could ask for anything more?
